Do you feel left out of conversations happening in Spanish? This course will help you break through the initial language barrier. You will start “leaning in” to Spanish-language conversations. You will be able to “get the gist” of what people are saying, and you will feel empowered to join these conversations.
Designed for students who have had some prior exposure to Spanish - but it’s been awhile! We move at a swift pace, covering all the basics needed to overcome your initial fear of speaking.
Key topics covered in this course are:
- Greetings & meeting new people
- Describing people with SER
- Expressing emotions with ESTAR
- Expressing likes & dislikes with GUSTAR
- Numbers, months, and dates
- Telling Time
- Describing our schedules
Prerequisite: Prior exposure to Spanish, or prior study of a Romance language.

This course will help you build conversational fluency and expand your vocabulary! In this immersive course, we engage with authentic Spanish-language stories (podcasts, mini-novelas, movies, etc.) and use them to spark conversation. Outside of class, students listen to, watch, and read Spanish-language stories at their own pace. In our live sessions, students practice speaking through discussions, debates, games and role-play activities.
Prerequisite: Students should feel comfortable having conversations in Spanish about familiar topics in the present and past (imperfect and preterite) tenses.
